From a teacher friend’s question to a technical solution

I first heard about the challenges AI brings to schools directly from a friend who teaches. My friend was frustrated that students’ use of AI had become a problem. Teachers can often tell what AI has produced and what it hasn’t, but students learn nothing when they copy from it.

Before I knew how much work it would take, I decided to tackle the problem and see what kind of solution I could build. My starting point was that students should not be able to copy answers from an AI tool for schools. More ideas came gradually, until they all came together as one product: Lapmin.
